Derek Klein is to sell his 100,000-strong collection of first day covers, including stamps marking George V’s silver jubilee, George VI’s silver wedding and England’s 1966 World Cup victory. He is selling the stamp collection on eBay to pay back £70,000 he stole from church funds.
Judge Peter Jacobs, at Norwich Crown Court, originally wanted to confiscate and auction the collection. The judge agree that a better price would achieved if the collection was sold on eBay after Klein, informed the judge that a conventional sale would fetch less money than online auction.
