BCA Report Modest Growth in Car Prices

Published April 23rd, 2008

The first quarter of 2008 has seen “modest growth” according to British Car Auctions (BCA), with average values of fleet cars rising by just £116 to £6,688 in the first quarter of 2008 compared to the final quarter of 2007, an increase of 1.7 per cent.

Values for nearly new didn’t fair so well, however. BCA states that they fell by one per cent compared with the previous quarter.

The company’s own research also suggests that average part-exchange values are an average of £116 higher.

BCA’s Communications Director Tony Gannon commented; “While Quarter one, 2008, as a whole showed improvement over the previous quarter, prices are in fact under a bit of pressure. With Easter now out of the way, April and May values will perhaps give a better indicator of how the market may perform over the rest of 2008.”
