Clive Emson Fine Arts Auction
Published April 25th, 2008
Property auctioneer’s Clive Emson has opened a fine arts division. Six or seven auctions a year are planned.
Alan White, formerly of Phillips, Bonhams, and Hobbs Parker, heads it up with Henrietta Thatcher, who worked with him at Hobbs Parker.
Clive Emson is known for property auctions across Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. But early in his career he also conducted auctions of furniture and paintings.
He says: “We can use the property sales to publicise the fine arts. We send out 25,000 property auction catalogues, and are advertising the furniture auctions there. That’s reaching 25,000 new people, plus we advertise in the Estates Gazette, which is another 60,000.”
