Narrow Boat Saved From Auction
Published April 28th, 2008
A NARROW boat is set to give children first-hand experience and help them to learn more about canals and surrounding wildlife.
The 70ft Coventrian had been put up for auction but the Alan Edward Higgs Charity stepped in to ensure it was kept on the waterways.
It gave the city-based Living Environment Trust (LET) the money to buy it so it could be used for a new project, Living Canals. The boat will be used as a classroom where children can learn about canals and their history.
The Coventrian will also be available for parties and trips, and new hire packages will be put together over the next few weeks. www.coventrytelegraph.net
