Ronnie Kray Paintings for Suffolk Auction
Published July 16th, 2008
Seven paintings by Ronnie Kray are to auctioned by Mander Auctioneers of Clare, near Sudbury, on 26th July.
The paintings date back to the early 1970s when Kray was imprisoned on the Isle of Wight.
James Mander, of Mander Auctioneers, said: “These paintings are part of an important piece of modern social history.
“I am particularly pleased to have these for our next auction, since the opportunity to see this many examples in close proximity enables us to really begin to get a feel for their work, which can be very dark at times.
“Having such good provenance and being fresh to the market is also an important aspect of this small collection.”
Mander Auctioneers (formerly Dyson and Son) was established in the 1970s and has an international client base of over 16,000 clients. From their showroom in the historic market town of Clare in West Suffolk, they hold auctions of up to 700 lots every third Saturday throughout the year which include antique and later furniture, silver, pictures, ceramics and jewellery.
