Rare Winnie the Pooh Book Auctioned for Charity

Published September 1st, 2008

A Winnie the Pooh book has raised £750 for charity in Clevedon.

The book was discovered among donations at the St Peters Hospice shop.

Shop Manager Jackie Taylor said “We had an idea it was valuable and so called Clevedon Sale Rooms and were advised to put it to auction with a reserve of £200.”

Mark Fraser, Saleroom Manager for Clevedon Salerooms said “The book was in fair condition and had the all important dust cover.

“Without the cover it would probably have achieved no more than £50.

“Our estimate of £200-£300 was a ’safe’ estimate, but nevertheless a price of £750 was a magnificent outcome.

“We have advised many St Peters Hospice retail outlets for many years now and are happy to waive any commission on the sale of any items they bring us.

“It is wonderful for us to attain a result like this for such a well deserving cause.”

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol and North Somerset’s largest charity retailer with over 40 shops in the region.
