Morgan Stanley to promote UK spectrum auction

Morgan Stanley has been appointed by Ofcom to promote Ofcom’s forthcoming auction of UK radio spectrum to international bidders.

Ofcom is hoping to raise up to £5 billion in the spectrum auction, freed up due to the 2012 switchover from analogue to digital TV, will be offered for a mix of mobile TV, HD terrestrial digital TV and wireless broadband services.

In a statement Ofcom said of Morgan Stanley’s appointment: “The award of this spectrum creates many opportunities for new firms and new technologies to enter the UK wireless communications market, boosting competition and innovation.
