Bloomsbury Prints, Paintings & Works on Paper

On September 18th Bloomsbury is having a 20th Century Prints, Paintings and Works on Paper sale. An etching of the Italian city Lucca (lot 165) printed with tone by Ben Nicholson, numbered 40/50, signed and dated 1962 is estimated £3000-4000. Lot 272 Le Manteau de Noe by Chagall is an initialled and numbered etching with extensive handcolouring in gouache (estimated £3000-5000). Amongst the Picasso pieces are three signed and numbered charming, linear drypoints from Le Frere Mendiant of 1958-59 (lots 317-319) all estimated at £1800-2200. Amongst the Contemporary items is a rough sketch in ball point pen of pendulous breasts signed by Tracey Emin (lot 372) and estimated £300-500. Another British artist in this section is Damien Hirst, lot 381 consists of four drawings in black felt tip pen of a heart, a signed shark, a butterfly and a signed skull and cross bones. Given to the vendor from the artist as a gift, this lot is expected to reach £3000-5000. Bloomsbury’s Contemporary Prints sales regularly offer Banksy silkscreens and this sale has 14 including Applause (lot 423) which is signed and dated 2006 (estimated £4000-6000).
