Princess Diana letters make 21,000 at auction

Four letters written by Princess Diana to her former nanny Mary Clarke, in which she mentioned trying to marry off her elder sister to her future husband Prince Charles, has been sold at at an East Anglian auction for 12,000 pounds.

Colchester-based auctioneers Reeman Dansie had estimated that the four letters would raise about £7,300.

The highest bid of £9,200 was for a letter in a 17-year-old Diana wrote: “My love of my life is dancing, things like tap, modern, ballet and jazz.

Diana continued to write to Ms Clarke until five years before her death in Paris in 1997. Ms Clarke, still has another six personal letters from Diana.
