Flintlock Pistols and Swords for Auction
Published October 15th, 2008
JP Humbert Auctioneers is to offer 30 flintlock pistols from the 16th to 18th centuries, as well as 30 swords dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, from a private collector in Oxford. They will be auctioned without reserve and could fetch up to £4,000 each at the Towcester auction.
Jonathan Humbert said: “This consignment of items is possibly the most important collection I’ve ever had. These are of international importance and they are going to attract worldwide attention.
“We’ve got 30 flintlock pistols, any one of which could be worth £2,000 to £4,000, and we’ve got 30 swords. To get one of them would be fabulous, but to get 30 is a real coup.
“They are all from the same collection; it’s a deceased estate and they are fresh to the market.”
