Pierrepoint Diary Auctioned

The diary of British hangman Henry Albert Pierrepoint has sold at auction as part of lot which fetched more than £4,000. The diary was bought by an overseas bidder at Frank Marshall and Co auctioneers in Knutsford.

A case, diary and two black bow ties belonging to Albert’s assistant Harry Bernard Allen sold for £20,231.

Nick Hall, principle auctioneer and valuer at Frank Marshall and Co Auctioneers, said: “These items are extremely rare. Historically, they were unique parts of social history.”
