A vase bought for £1 at a car boot sale has sold for £32,450 at a Christie’s auction in London.

The diary of British hangman Henry Albert Pierrepoint has sold at auction as part of lot which fetched more than £4,000. The diary was bought by an overseas bidder at Frank Marshall and Co auctioneers in Knutsford.

David Sampson, 42, sold deactivated guns and grenades on internet site eBay under the name ‘millsbomber’.
